A special relationship with the Taiwanese embassy, situated in Cape Town, emerged during the Covid-pandemic. The embassy donated sanitising equipment to the school but after hearing the school’s story, decided to get more involved.

A special highlight was the donation of eight laptops to deserving learners in December 2022 – an event that also saw Dr Mimmy Gondwe (member of the South African parliament) visit the school. Dr David Lin, director of the Taiwanese embassy, delivered a stirring speech at an assembly in January 2022 to accompany the donation of three trees by Calling’s Taiwanese friends.
